Abstract: The Nassau College Utility Package consists of several programs useful for monitoring and maintaining system security, file editing and protection, and general utility functions.

Included in the package:

• REMOTE: allows system shutdown to be initiated from a terminal other than KB0: (and by a non-privileged user, if the program is given temporary privileges).
• SCAN: scans the system for possible security hazards.
• ZERO: erases unallocated blocks on a disk.
• PROTEC: allows a privileged user to mark a file as non-deletable.
• CONVRT: converts non-standard EXTEND mode programs to standard form (LF-CR-NULL sequences are replaced with SPACE-&-CR).
• SQUISH: squishes text files, packing partially used clusters and spanning blocks.
• PASSWD: allows users to change their password, provided they know the current password
• NULL: erases a magnetic tape. Each program in the package is thoroughly documented and comes with instructions.

Restrictions. Some simple editing of a couple of programs may be necessary to make programs designed for V7.0 compatible with previous versions of RSTS.
